Artist Paper
I can take the knowledge gained from researching a famous artist and apply it to the recreate one of the artist artwork on a shoe using acrylic paint.
Students will use an old worn out shoe as their canvas to recreate a famous work of art by an artist of their choice, no flip-flops please. They need to think about how they will apply/use the space available on the shoe to depict the artwork. Can the sole and the laces become an important part of the image? 100 points Three parts to this assignment. Students CANNOT do the same work of art but they can select the same artist. Example: Sue Smith - VanGogh - Starry Night Billy Jones - VanGogh - Wheatfield with Crows Turning it in: Use Google Classroom to turn EVERYTHING in. Part 1: Research Paper - 100 points - Written in Google Doc - File Name: Your Last Name (Name on Paper too). Part 2: If I could talk - 50 points - Written in Google Doc - File Name: Your Last Name (Name on Paper too). Part 3: Painted Shoe - 100 points - Take at least 4 images (you can take more) of your shoe. Label them with your last name. Use backdrop to take your pictures, images need to be neat not full of distractions in the background. |
Part 1 - Artist Paper
The artist paper will be full of facts about your artist and the artwork they created. Each student will select an artist from the Artist List. You will answers the following questions within the body of your paper. (at least 2+ paragraph). Cite your work! 100 points Written in Google Doc - File Name: Your Last Name (Name on Paper too).
Write an expressive paragraph (FICTION) about the image you selected to recreate on a shoe. Imagine the artwork could talk, what would it say? This is a chance to be creative within your writing, have fun with this. This is not a paragraph full of facts it's a fictional piece. Title the paper "If I could Talk" include the image and your paragraph, look at the example below so you know what your final paper needs to look like. 50 points Written in Google Doc - File Name: Your Last Name (Name on Paper too).

- Place of birth
- What kind of artwork is this artist best known for? (painting, sculpture...)
- What art movement is your artist's artwork from (ex; Impressionism)? Explain the movement.
- What did you learn about this artist’s family or childhood?
- What education did this artist receive in art or other areas?
- What events, circumstances, or influences were important accomplishments?
- What medium did the artist use? (ex: oil paint, metal)
- How do you feel about the artist's work?
- How have experts described the artist’s style?
- What do you find most interesting about this artist's life or work? Why?
- Other facts about your artist that you find to help support your paper.
