Assignment #1 - Shutter Speed & Aperture
I can control shutter speed to capture an image with a subject and background frozen and image with subject frozen and background blurred.
I can control aperture to capture shallow and deep Depth of Field (DOF).
Camera Setting - TV and AV mode
Part 1: Frozen and Blurred (TV mode) - 2 images - 1 Reflection
Part 2: DOF (f/stops - 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22) (AV mode) - 6 images
Part3: DOF (f/stop 4 and 22) (AV mode) - 2 images 1 Reflection
Total of 10 images due
PART 1: Shutter Speed
1. Shutter Speed - Controls motion, measured in seconds. For this assignment the camera will be set on TV mode (shutter speed priority). Controlling the Shutter Speed (<this is the assignment) to capture one image which shows blurring in the background, (pan with your camera) an out of focus images isn't a blurred image. The frozen image will also be panned but this time your subject and the background will both be frozen. Reflective writing: Why did you select the shutter speeds and what was the outcome of your choice (list what your ss used)? - 2 images or more NO CEILING FANS

Examples Part 1: (TV Mode) Shutter Speed "blurred" the subject (boy on the bike) is frozen but the background is blurred using a shutter speed of 1/60 or lower. When capturing a frozen image (Mrs. Harris doing a flip) everything will be in focus, use a shutter speed of 1/250 or higher. Think about your focal point and you MUST pan with your subject as your subject moves in front of you.
PART 2 & 3: Aperture
2. Aperture - Controls DOF (depth of field), measured in f/stops. The camera will be set on AV mode (Aperture Priority), you will be taking a series (the exact same image, don't change the angle or portion of the camera). Line a series of object up in a row place your focal point in the center. Take 6 image using the following f/stops - 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22 (whole f/stops). You should see the DOF grow around your focal point. - 6 images 3. Take an image with an object in the foreground as your focal point and use f/stops 4 and 22. Reflective writing: How did the f/stop change the DOF within the image, compare 2 images |
Example Part 2. Six images below were taking using the following f/stops - 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22 (whole f/stops - AV Mode)
Example Part 3: DOF f/4 and f/22 (two images) same subject with one object being the focal point. (AV Mode)
